James Platt

James Platt

British bass James Platt studied at the Royal Academy of Music and on the Opera Course of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

A member of the Jette Parker Young Artist Programme at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden his roles there include Caronte Orfeo, Dr Grenvil La Traviata and Blansac in Rossini’s La Scala di Seta. James recently made his debut with the Welsh National Opera as High Priest of Baal Nabucco.

His concert and recital appearances include Paul Lewis’ Midsummer Music Festival, Glyndebourne’s Ebert Room Recital Series, the Brighton Festival, Bridgewater Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Christ Church Spitalfields and Barbican Hall. Conductors with whom he has worked include Valery Gergiev, Sir Colin Davis, Sir Charles Mackerras, Sir Andrew Davis, Paul McCreesh, Laurence Cummings and Sir Mark Elder.

He has studied with Brindley Sherratt and Sir John Tomlinson and, as a Samling Scholar, he has worked with Malcolm Martineau, Stephen King and Sir Thomas Allen. James continues his studies with Janice Chapman.

He was both a finalist in the GSMD’s Gold Medal Competition and was awarded the Silver Medal by the Worshipful Company of Musicians. He has also been the recipient of a Richard Van Allen Award and an Independent Opera Scholarship.

She is an ENO Harewood Artist and recently made her professional début with the company as Edith in Pirates of Penzance.

Kyu Choi is a South Korean Baritone, who graduated from the Korea National University of Arts before taking up a place at the Royal Academy of Music where he studied for his Master’s degree which supported by the San Martino Scholarship in 2016.

Rebecca von Lipinski was born in Mansfield and studied at the Royal Northern College of Music‚ supported by the Peter Moores Foundation‚ and at the National Opera Studio in London. Her awards include the Clonter Opera Prize‚ the Audience Prize and the Elizabeth Harwood Memorial Award.

Robyn Allegra Parton

A finalist in the 2012 Kathleen Ferrier Awards and holder of the Helen Clarke Award from Garsington Opera, Robyn Allegra Parton read Music at Worcester College, Oxford, before furthering her studies at the Royal College of Music, London, and completing the Monteverdi Choir Apprenticeship and ENO’s Opera Works programme.

Will Thomas was born in Harpenden and in 2013 he gained a place at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (BMus) and is currently studying under the guidance of John Evans on the Masters Programme at The Guildhall School and will continue his studies on the prestigious Opera Course in September 2018.
